What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is the result of introducing modern technology to the dental industry. A series of clear plastic trays are created for you to put into your mouth. They have been designed to push certain teeth at certain times. By wearing the trays on the average of 22 hours a day, you replace the tray every two weeks. The new tray has been engineered to continue that pressure or to introduce pressure on a different tooth. The Invisalign process has now produced 700 patents worldwide and has now been successfully used by over 4 million patients in 20 years.
The Invisalign Process
After we have agreed together to proceed with this method, we will start with a very accurate, 3D image of your teeth with a digital scanner. This information is loaded into a CAD/CAM device. This stands for computer aided design and computer aided manufacturing. Prior to even making your very first tray we can show you a computer-generated image of your smile upon completion. No guess work. That will be your smile. The trays and the computer aided design can move your teeth horizontally, vertically and even rotate them. All with slight pressure. We will still schedule to see you to monitor progress but that is all we will need to do during those visits.
The Benefits of Invisalign
One of the leading benefits is that they are more comfortable than traditional metal braces. There is no tightening required because that is what you achieve every two weeks in putting a new tray in. Of course, they are far less noticeable. A terrific feature for you as an adult in the workplace. Invisalign has become very popular with the teenage audience because they simply are difficult to see. They are also beneficial in correcting the gaps in your front teeth and correcting an overbite as well.
